Hi all, im just wondering what would be the ideal setting of brakes for trials, or is it personal preferance? i run a deore cable disc at the front and a tekro vee brake at the rear and i have them set so i just need to touch the lever and they come on, i dont need to pull it in much at all, is this a reasonable setup to use or should i try something better to improve my ability to lock wheels?

being an engineer, I'll define the upper and lower "lever travel" bounds; upper bound: won't lock properly as you can't pull it in further - your finger can't pull it in properly when it's so close to the bar. lower bound: too far out - instead of having a strong fist around the handlebars to pull up on, you only have 3 fingers. the one finger on the lever has it's strength dictated by the pissy muscles out to the very end of your finger = weak. Further in and you will be using the muscles from the stronger lower bit of your finger. inbetween is personal preference - who cares where they come on - but mine stop about half way, some of the other guys pull further, about 2/3rds the way. my calaises are inbetween the 2 outer joints - make a hook with your finger and thats where mine pulls. why do you ask? need more brake? we use tar or a rim grind - i've just gound mine can't do anything about the disc except buy a different one/ bigger rotor. wanna come to dwellingup for the sept 25/26 weekend? we just ride and um ride, great fun. We can probably pick you up or meet you at armadale or something.

it's there, just robin keeps on deleting stuff and he always gets the days wrong basically dwellingup weekend 25/26th sept. nothing more sorted out yet, basically cruise down sat morn, ride, camp out (no tent? i don't have a tent either, just share, we'll sort it out somehow), ride sunday, cruise back.
sand paper don't do anything by itself, only good for cleaning dog poo off your rim or pads really.
