hey Ash I just got a new rear tyre - Maxxis Mobster 2.35. Couldn't believe the difference it made compared to my old El Gato ;D. The EG would bottom out all the time even at 30psi, whereas my new tyre didn't even bottom out when dropping 6' onto paved ground!! The wheel didn't like it much though . In the El Gato's defence (2.25 width), it is about 3 yrs old and has copped a beating. Best part is, the new Maxxis tyre only cost me $40 Cya after exams (if I survive)

nice bike... give me a go! me and peter have echo 2.5's, robin and brad had monty 2.5's, paul had tryall 2.5. Peter has a 521 too and says it's too narrow, especially on the rocks, the tyre rolls too much. probably can't tell for street though - although the way the rubber folds when it bottoms out would be different. Dave has a 521 as well, he always gets pinch flats, but that was cos of the paper-thin walls on the old tyres he was using i reckon Luke has a tioga somethingrather 2.5. we all go for the really thin grips also - the ourys would be thicker were you about to go for a ride in the pool? ;D

I highly recommend the maxxis range in 2.35 super tacky or slow reezay. I am a fan of the minion DHR for the rear in dual ply (down hill casing) and i think i will get either a minion or a mobster 2.35 single ply for the front. Stick with maxxis though, cheap, and best grip around.
