We're planning the next competition on Saturday the 26th of July at York. It will likely be an all-natural comp, so get those skills up!.
Further details will be posted up later. Any suggestions/ideas/details you have post them here.
There is a DH competition organised by PMBC on that sunday, so there will be heaps of people practicing there on sat. Many people will be camping the night of sat/sun. It may be fun for some of us as well.

We'll I think I better hit the rocks at freo as much as possible. Despite being a dumb question, any suggestions for good natural terrain around Kalamunda Guildfors area, wana practise 3 times a week and freo rocks are quite a hike

All seems go for this comp.
Update from Brad for those of you who missed it:
======================================= The igsact location for it will be mostly on the North face of MT Brown, out of the way of all the racing... and if we don't get in the way or if we could use the top for a little bit then we might do that. It would only mean the guy's wouldn't be able to practice the very top section for like 20 min. We'll see on that though.... there is a little section near the top but a little east of the summit, but that is right out of the way from past experiences
The noth face consists of the steeper face of the hill with some steps running through it and lots of rocks pooking out every where. Perfect trials area. =======================================
PMBC is happy to help us out and give us some extra publicity. You WILL be required to obtain a day licence at a probable fee of $10 if you enter the comp. This is insurance.
Will have a browse around if there's someone around who might sponsor this fee for us.

$10? No probs, if I can afford it then anyone can Had a thought (ow my head!) about where we're all staying - we might be eligible for a group discount if we're all in the same spot. No idea what our accomadation plans are though, any suggestions??? If the DH racers are going to be in York too we'll most likely need to book in advance so we don't get left out in the cold... I have a tent and stuff anyway, is this the way we're going?

jeeeeeezzzzz!!!!! Went for a follow up appointment with the guy who sliced my knee up last year - well, he wasn't impressed with how it's not straight etc so I'm up for ANOTHER knee op. Worse still, I'm scheduled for July 22nd, ie only 4 days b4 the York comp . I still might try and make it, prob only as a spectator, but was REALLY looking forward to this one....

Taken from the PMBC website. Brad, pls let us know if we are meeting at a different location: ======================================= Getting to York is simple enough, for most travelling the same way to get to Mundaring, (up Great Eastern Highway). Instead keep travelling along this road, past Mundaring. After some distance the road forks out, a service station is at this intersection. To the right is the Great Southern Hwy. Travel along this to York town centre. When approaching there are two main hills that you can see. Mount Brown is the one to the right (without the aireal). To get to the top, cross over the river that travels through the centre of town (many ways-but Balladong Rd does the job). From there travel north (turn left) along Panmure Street, turn right at Mount Street, left at Herbert, then right at Steere Drive. There are many ways to get there form the town centre, however Steere Street is the only road to the top of the lookout. It is easier than it sounds. ======================================= Map: wamba.asn.au/pmbc/events/images/york.gif

Yere its pretty easy to find, as you enter town you will see mount Brown on the oppisite side of town. its easy to get too.
Just a note on start times, as they haven't been brought up too much, 2pm will prob suit every body, as i work on sat morn.
START TIME 2 PM
Alow about 1 hour travelling time from midland area plus, time needed to reach there from your start point.
This should allow plenty of time for people to pack in the morning too
As far as accomodation goes, i was planning on staying on MT Brown, in my van. For those that are interested in tenting it, keep in mind that it is on the top of a hill. IE the ground is typically sloping at least slightly in most areas, and it is hard in a lot of areas, making it hard to get tent pegs in the ground. But you should be able to manage, just don't take a triangle tent or any that relies on rope tesion to keeep it standing.
Other than that there is several pubs and what not in town

2 PM start is late for me, but it's prolly easier for most of the others. I will have to be out of there by 6 pm though, I'm not staying overnight. Considering we'll need time to mark off sections etc. as well...

Man its been ages since I 've been up there anyway... I can think of 2 sections I want to do, but the rest I was just going to have a look at... I've never had a real good ride on top of the hill. I was thinking of a slightly different marking technique, one that the moto boy's use, esp on natural terain... were you just lay out markers(Tape, Line marking paint/laquer etc) for the different classes to go through... say you have your start a fininsh markers and in between that you have 2-5ish markers colour coded that the sport or expert have to go through in order to complete the section... this allows for more indivual lines, and means it takes less to set up and shorter time to pack up. Sooo... if you want to check out potential sections at the TOP and that is were we are doing it... mark some of them if you wish, and when I get there ( about 1- 1:20ish), I'll have a look and show you the other sections if you haven't allready spotted them, and we can do it. You cant miss it... go right to the top of the look out, where there is a littleplatform and you wil see what I meen!

I might go to the hardware store and buy 2 cans of the stuff I'm after, it sprays on dry, so you don' have wet paint on the rocks.

There will be a 10$ insurance fee btw guys. I know we don't like to pay, but I think we're all better off with a bit of backup.

Comp start's been moved up to 12:30. I'm going to try and be there at around 11, so departure from my place around 10. Can you be at my place a little before Dave? We'll put your bike on the roof and head off. We'll be cruising together with Pieter & Kuba to get there.
A 12:30 start would give us the best (locals) turnout. We'll wait for brad if we can, else we'll have to get him to do some late runs or something. He closes shop at 12, and it will take him a bit to get to york. There may be a few beginners riding also.
$10 entry fee so medics can stich your nuts back on if you happen to lose them.
We will figure out who will be judging over there, but it will likely be beginners judge experts or along that line. Maybe Dave can take it on?
Don't think there's anyone of us staying overnight aside from Brad. Don't forget to bring a second bike if you want to try and get some DH runs in!
The weather looks marginal, but we can't change that... If Dave and/or Luke bring their laptops we can drool over some bikie movies.
'yall oky with that?

yup, can be at your place earlier. Btw, I'm not taking my bike ( ) as I'd be too tempted to do stuff on it, so there'll be room for someone else's treadly if needed. I'll have a go at judging, but might need an offsider for the tricky tech stuff.

Brad, I scored a can of survey marker paint from my bro's ute. It's white though, so not quite as good as a fluoro colour.

Hey dave, can you give me a call when you can? You weren't at home before.
Tom's back in town and wants to come tomorrow as well. Says he won't be riding though. Can you pick him up around 8:30 - 9ish so we can leave my place early? It's a fair trek to york.

The paint/laquer stuff should come off in the rian I think... does that survey paint do that dave...?
even if we use it at another time.... maybe mark some sections down at freo... they'll never know its us... not that any one would notice.
