Stupid system's crashed again, and I was gone for study so the site may have been offline for a few hours. Not going to install the backup at the moment; gotta study, sorry... So please make do with a direct link to the forum for now.
WANT A SYSTEM THAT WORKS! (Anybody have an old computer lying around you're not using? I'll buy it off you).

you could get a fanless via epia mini-itx if you're gonna be leaving it on 24/7... can get a fanless psu to go with it too. i'm putting one in my car $200 for mobo and cpu... i'm getting a 7" widescreen lcd touchscreen this week does up to XGA resolution. then again no point spending money for other peoples browsing pleasure although sounds like you've got a lot to blow on a new system:) I got a P4 2.6Ghz a few weeks back, 80Gb sata, bla.

Wish... I said I'd have to make some money to be able to waste it... I'm not going to spend at this stage considering I'm not even sure I'll be here next year still. Current system should do fine... the problem seems to be a hardware conflict somewhere with the network card; will try replacing that at some stage - have tried everything else...
Though I do like the mini-itx idea; will look into it at sometime. Wouldn't need much considering all it'll have to do is sit there. (leave out all peripherals etc...). still be $500 min though...
Keep me updated on your in-car system idea - sounds interesting. What's it supposed to do anyway? Are you programming something around it yourself? And how are you going to work the powersupply?

kewl. What about booting/shutdown? Wouldn't want it to crash every time you turned the ignition, or be wasting battery while you're gone? Sounds like a neat little luxury you're designing. Will have to come play with it once it's done.
