We need some more manmade stuff to play on!
I just spoke to Kuba and Pieter; they have started uni and now have full access to professional filming equipment and other toys (they can make us T-shirts for free!). We also need PUBLICITY...
We really have to get together and do some building. Sunday feb 9th 10:00 am at my house. It has a nice backyard and is fairly close to the lot. Kuba, Pieter, and his girlfriend are definately coming.
Come over, build some stuff, watch some movies, do some video work, get the stuff over, go for a ride, (have a bbq?). Just plain have fun whatever happens.
Sorry not to take you up on your offer Luke, but your place is a bit far off for some of us. If you are coming though (and this counts for all) we could use some wood and big cars...
I'll be making some calls to the "regulars" but please post here if you are keen. I won't post my address untill I'm sure there are a few people coming.

Hey dude!! I think that before we get to building anything seriuos we should get together and work out what we are going to build, and how much it is going to cost. I've got some nice designs, and if we can get some one who has a weilder we can build us some gear that will last for ages. BUT, and there is a but, to build this gear will cost a small amount. Now Luke said that he is owed some money and that he was happy to have that money paid to him as building material. Now if that is so then if the rest of us can just chip in a little for the other things then we will be able to build us some kick ass dog poo. So for those inerested i think we should get a date down, maybe organise dinner and talk these issues over. I am in serious mode as far as getting a job gose so as soon as that happens for me i will be able to cash in. Now it shouldn't cost too much. But I really don't think that one or two people should shoulder the cost of these things so that the rest of us can go ride and wreck their gear. If any one else has some ideas of things too build, make a scetch of the design and bring it to our meeting or show it too Robin or I. Feel free to propose a date. And please allow a bit of notice.

Wow... there ARE people with motivation! Wouldn't it be nice if we could all bring it together and use it as Brad said.
Maybe we can do it coming Saturday? Have a good dinner and then a full moon ride after maybe?

Are you offering your place to have dinner at. I was kind of thinking of keeping it seperate to a ride but we can do it next week. We'll see what sort of feed back we get for all those that want to do it next week reply here or offer a more suitable date. I realise that you want to get things going Robin, and we can slap together some A-frames, but to build gear that is going to last, it may take some organising.

We need sometime to just get together for ideas maybe.
Hey brad, you have Messenger? It might be an easy way to chat a little when people are online at the same time (like now)

Guys, I am very keen and I agree with Brad that a quick planning session would be good.
I have found a few places that are willing to part with their spare BIG cable reels and pallets. Me and jono went on a scoping mission the other night and found several construction sites where they were throwing away plallets. We also have about 20, 44 gallon drums that we found that are new.
I am going to phone a few electrical places and builders to see if we can get scrap. Also I'm guna try and get access to the scrap yard at RCR which may contain a number of spare goodies.
I'm a bit strapped for cash as I just payed for the new Brisa but will be cashed up again next month.
I've got a few tools, i.e cordless drill saw but we can talk about that when we meet.
Be good next saturady as I will have my new bike

Good news, I have access to the RCR graveyard, which is full of used pallets boxes cable reels and all the material we need for braces ect, the only thing we'll need is nails and screws.
There are a few excellent pallets but much of it is damaged pallets boxes ect so I'll still look at sourcing those else where.
But that takes care of a good lot of what we need

Sounds like we've got some good stuff to work with! We'll have to have a look at those designs you guys drew up. If everybody uses their own tools, and chips in for nails, bolts, paint and whatever else we need we'll have a grade A trialsfield for demo's and just for play!

thats awsome Luke!!! I'm sure we can qrank out some decent stuff to ride out of that stuff. The stuf I've designed though, may need to be shelved for a while though by the sound of things, as they were going to be made from the ground up, out of pretty much new stuf. Hence the refference to the cost. I had planned to make some structures out of a weilded steel frame with ply bolted done over the frame. But, if there are any lengths of galvanised steel tubing, something like, 30mm x 30mm square tubing, or anything near to this, would be fab!!! Even angle line, could do the trick for some things. If any one has access to any of this stuff, it would be orsm!!! As I really wanted to build three boxes, the bigest being around 180cm high, and the smallest about 100cm high, so they alll fitted into oneanother and when packed only took up the size of the largest one. This would fill a whole in what we have to use, as pallet stacks are fine, but are unstable, and hard to cart around. These would be strong, easy to pack and transport, and last for ages. Any way enough of my ramblings, the more crap you can bring to the lot the better. Its not like all of it has to used for any future demos. ON YOUR BIKES

Remember though that it's not our property; everything that we dump there should at least look somewhat organised...

I have shot off about 20 formal emails to building companies in Perth outlining our need for spare pallets, cable reels or misc scrap. I have had two replies already this morning and they are diributing it to their contractors, with any luck we may be able to get some building cut offs, pallets and scrap from building sites around Perth, I'll keep you posted. After all if we get it for them it's all the less they have to worry about carting off
Brad those boxes sound good, I think it may be possible to get the materials we need as In my scouts I've seen a few bits of welded up junk sitting in the corners of peoples house block(chicken coops, old trailer frames) and hey maybe they'd be glad to clear some junk off there property if they dont need it

This thread has been combined with a night ride on the 15th. Meet at 6pm at the lot; bring any designs you have and materials we can dump for future use.
See "rides" section for more.
