hey rexy good to hear i'd say keep practising rear wheel hopping, can never get enough of that you should come on a ride with us - a ride at the Lot in north freo is good cos we've got pallets and small stuff you can break and knowone cares there is plenty of stuff on the net telling you how to do basic stuff, but it's more fun out with the guys and we can help you out with illustrated examples hehe

Hey rex - we post our ride locations and times on this forum, so you'll have to check yourself. Look in the "rides" section.
We used to have a guy in rockingham but he's not there anymore - we'll have to figure out some way of getting you up here... Just post on the forums beforehand and maybe someone might be in your area.

ah i will check the forums then, thanks for that. Where are most of the rides held?, i noticed you had a place called the lot on the homepage and i saw some pics of that....it looks awesome,id never be able to ride some of that stuff I can usually get transport up to the city or Fremantle for rides, just not for every one. see ya round ps, what are some beginner obstacles i could make to build up some skills?, as here i have very little to ride other than a few logs and a verandah.

we don't always organise too far in advance though - so organise a day that you can come up, either a saturday or sunday, and we will run with that. Probably go to freo rocks, at mcdonalds/bathers beach - unless city is easier, then we will go to east perth (limestone stuff). meet somewhere between 11am and 2pm - your call. ************************ Logs are good, maybe you could get 6 sturdy pallets and a 3m plank - can try to go clean up 3 or 4 pallets, go to bash on 6 pallets, sidehop a couple of em, try riding up and down the plank leaning on the pallets, put the plank between 2 pile of 3 pallets, etc...

ah, ill have to organise a date when i can get up to freo, ill let you know the pallets are a good idea, i happen to know where half a dozen are sitting that i could "borrow", i think i could get up 3, but never 6 (i dont have a bashy) and i cant really sidehop, but ive got quite good balance and could ride across a log between them with ease ( i might put a skinny there), thanks for the ideas, also any tips for stopping and leaning on your pedals so as to not put your foot down?

Sorry neil, just edited your post - can't post the location of the lot by request of the owner. Cheers! Hey rex, yeah hope to see you around sometime! We're riding this weekend as well. If you're planning on sticking to trials make sure you get a bashguard and remove unused chainrings! No matter how hard you try; you will bend them! Leaning on your pedals is cheating! I think in competition there's actually a 4 second rule... not even sure on that myself... If you're going to stop on the spot learn to trackstand or hop in one spot - it's the move you'll use the most throughout all of your trials riding! (All of our guys use it continually without thinking; at traffic lights, curbs, or when taking a break) Come ride with us and we'll show you how to get started! Learning trackstands: find a gentle slop and ride into it front first. Stop the bike, hold both brakes and turn your wheel about 45 degrees away from your "chocolate" (front) foot. Turn the handle bars more or less to stay balanced. If you find you're about to fall over, don't put a foot down! just release the brakes and ride forwards as little as possible to correct it and try again... Backwheel hops and static hops: Put your front wheel on something about bench hight. Hop on the spot with the front wheel there! Once you get comfy move away from the object. www.trials-online.com have really good learning vids. Have a look!

ive done my homework, 3 second rule on the pedals before you give away 5 points......some of the rules are interesting, like 100 points for pre riding the course..... i can do trackstands okish, but i cant hop at all really, that ledge is a good idea ive got a perfect one to practise on i cant afford a trials bike at the moment, i cant even afford new grips for my bike but my birthday and christman are coming so im still hopeful :)hope i dont kill my chainrings before then, i came close today.
